Cycling along the Dava Way near Rafford
The Dava Way provides access to the woods, farmland and moorland that lie between Forres and Grantown. It was once a rural railway route and now passes through numerous varied habitats, most remote from habitation.
Partner: Dava Way Association
Address: Manachie Avenue,
Forres
OS Grid ref: NJ036576
Further information: The start of the Dava Way route in Forres is at Manachie Avenue where there is an access ramp and information board. There is a smoothy prepared surface for 1km whereafter expect a more varied and rougher surface. It is suitable for walkers, off road cyclists and horse riders. It is (to our knowledge) the only such route in the UK to be negotiated, opened and maintained by a group of volunteers. It was opened gradually and is constantly evolving (and we hope improving) as funding opportunities permit.
