Marple Memorial Park is a council owned park in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Previously a private estate, the land was given to the community in 1922 in Memory of the Marple men killed during WW1. Today the park is a Green Flag Award winning greenspace including formal gardens, local heritage features, a library, childrens play areas, bowling green, picnic areas, woodland walks and wildlife areas, a skate park and green open spaces. Events: Sun 05 July 2009 Marple Locks Festival This year's Locks Festival will be held on Sunday 5th July from 10am to 4 pm. As at previous festivals there will be guided walks, art events, musical and dancing displays, refreshments, boat trips... Sat 25 July 2009 Friends of the Park Task Day A Friends of Memorial Park Task Day will be held between 10am and 1pm. Everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they wish during these times. Sat 29 August 2009 Friends of the Park Task Day A Friends of Memorial Park Task Day will be held between 10am and 1pm. Everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they wish during these times. Sat 26 September 2009 Friends of the Park Task Day A Friends of Memorial Park Task Day will be held between 10am and 1pm. Everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they wish during these times. Volunteering: The Friends of the Park hold a Task Day on the last Saturday of each month between 10am and 1pm to help with planting and maintenance in the park.
